School Centre Goldbach Langwedel

1st prize in limited competition with eight participants. The construction of a three-level secondary school is planned for the Goldbach school grounds in Langwedel. The development should meet the requirements of a secondary school as well as facilitating the development and implementation of future educational initiatives. Four blocks, currently separated from each other, are integrated into the new building which includes standard and specialised classrooms, an administration office, a cafeteria and kitchen, as well as recreation areas. The design features a windmill-shaped structure and stands as an extendable solitaire, creating an impressive landmark on the school grounds. The three wings of the building divide the extensive grounds into zones and allow for the creation of clearly defined outdoor areas. At the same time, the building’s design, with its planned three wings, creates a structure for the various facilities, as well as short distances between them. The centrally located school hall, consisting of the connectable recreation area and cafeteria, forms the starting-point and also the ‚heart’ of the new building. The generously designed staircase in the centre connects the main functional areas together and, with its integrated seating area, provides an extension of the recreational hall with flexible options for use.
