Extension Grammar School Othmarschen Hamburg

The grammar school in Othmarschen is extended with the construction of a two-storey school wing for music and art classes. The height of the structure is aligned to the existing neighbouring buildings. On the first floor, the old and new buildings are connected to each other. A sheltered passageway for the pupils forms an optical extension of the ribbon windows of the existing building. On both the ground and first floor of the new building three classrooms are accessible via a central main hall. The brick construction with reinforced concrete ceilings and columns has an expressive dark clinker facade, allowing the clear structure of the ribbon windows to stand out.
