Rainvilleterrassen Residential Complex Hamburg

Limited architectural design competition with nine participants. The plot for the construction of new flats is located on the Elbchaussee in close proximity to the river Elbe. Two solitary structures are integrated into the growing, historically significant landscape with its dense tree population and natural, park-like character. The two new structures are positioned in such a way that the quality of the park is not compromised. The polygonal-shaped five or six storey new builds are concentrated in the northern part of the plot in order to continue the park to the adjacent road in the south. The compact design makes it possible to access every one of the four flats located on each level from just one stairwell. All flats receive daylight from two sides and thus have at least one facade to protect against noise. Fully glazed facades and generous balconies provide an uninterrupted view of the Elbe.
